Mackay Showground Markets
6am-10am Every Saturday
The biggest weekly markets with many stalls offering crafts, potted plants, seedlings and herbs, local produce such as fruit and vegetables, and seafood. Most of the stallholders are local to the region. Admission to the market is free. The Showground Markets are well known in Mackay as they have been running for about 40 years and have about 2000-3000 people attend each week. Importantly, the markets have the same stallholders and attract regular customers wanting to buy a particular home-made sauce or cake or item. Plenty of parking available. For stall information, please phone Skye on 0407 799 471.
Lennon Bros Circus
Wednesday 9th – Sunday 20th August, 2017
Lennon Bros Circus is the oldest touring circus in Australia. 121 years ago, it started as a Buck jump show and has evolved into the sophisticated circus production witnessed today. The circus is currently run by 5th generation brothers Geoff & Warren with 5th and 6th generations of the family represented in the program.
Lennon Bros Circus is one of only two circuses left in Australia with big cats in the program. The three lions at Lennon’s are now 9 years of age: two females and one male from different litters. They were born and bred in the circus, and are in fact 12th generation born and bred in Australia.
Other animals appearing in the show include:

Mackay Swap Meet
6am-2pm Sunday 1st October 2017
The Mackay Swap Meet, Mackay Region’s largest meet, is a celebration of fun, value and the entrepreneurial spirit. With some 2,800 visitors and 130 booths in its inaugural year, the Mackay Swap Meet is committed to growing into a centrepiece of the Central Queensland outdoor swapping experience. With something for everyone, you never know what treasures you’ll find. Proudly presented by the Mackay West Rotary Club and sponsored by local business, they use this as an opportunity to (pay it forward) promote their wonderful region. All proceeds are donated to local, state and national charities. The Mackay Swap Meet is an annual event held over the Queen’s Birthday holiday weekend, the first weekend in October. Food and drink are available throughout the event. Swap Sites: $25 per Site – Public: $5 per Person
